Geography

In the Montessori classroom, Geography begins with a child’s natural curiosity about the world around them. Young students start by exploring the basic elements of our planet, air, land, and water, through hands-on materials that make abstract concepts tangible. These early lessons help children understand the relationships and characteristics of the Earth in a concrete and meaningful way.

As their understanding grows, students move on to more detailed studies of landforms, including mountains, rivers, islands, and valleys. Using maps, models, and interactive materials, they develop a sense of place and spatial awareness, while also learning to appreciate the diversity and interconnectedness of the natural world. Montessori Geography nurtures observation, classification, and critical thinking, laying the foundation for lifelong curiosity about our planet.
